Barbara Stevens June 2016

Monthly Meeting
28th June 2016

Trials and Tribulations of Public Speaking
Barbara Stevens

Any of us who have done any public speaking will be aware that it's essential to be organised with equipment, transport, timekeeping and be well prepared. Barbara is an accomplished public speaker and she entertained us with anecdotes of things she had experienced in her years as a speaker. She went through the alphabet to illustrate her presentation in humorous spoken words.

It was a very entertaining and enlightening talk. She has a relaxed way about her and held the audience's attention throughout the whole of her presentation. She had an excellent two way rapport with the audience and especially with Vivien who she is photographed with here.

Shakespeare by Chris LLoyd

31st May 2016 Monthly Meeting

Chris Lloyd
Chris Lloyd
Members check out the plays
Once again, for his third visit, Chris spoke to a packed hall exploring the world of Shakespeare as a gateway to understanding the entire spectrum of human nature.
This was a very popular event with an enthusiastic audience.

He explored the world of human emotion – using different coloured pockets in his coat of many pockets to represent the emotions and themes found in all of Shakespeare's 37 plays.

Chairman, Mike, opens the meeting
It was a very interactive talk with lots of audience participation. Members showed an impressive knowledge of Shakespeare's plays and were never caught out by Chris' questions. The talk was delivered with an impressive backdrop featuring all of the plays presented in a way designed to give the main themes and plots of all of them.

Three brave volunteers took part in a mock and very funny performance of "Much Ado About Nothing" to highlight Chris' main points.

We'll allow the pictures to speak for themselves........
