Falklands War (Chinook) Ian Avory

May 2015 Monthly Meeting

18 (B) Squadron's (Chinook)
Falklands War
Ian Avory

Ian's fascinating talk detailed the Chinook Helicopter  involvement  before, during and after the war to retake the Falkland Islands from the Argentinians.

Ian was a squadron pilot during the period so this is the story of his experiences and that of the Squadron with the backdrop of the whole operation.

Ian provided us with many original photographs and even footage of a Chinook Helicopter landing on its "back two wheels".

Thank You, Ian!

Setting the Scene

Briar Blake

Briar - A True Professional

Chairman introduces Briar
Briar used her theatrical professionalism to deliver a talk that was stimulating, informative and amusing. Members left the meeting more aware of the enormous amount of work that goes into producing an ‘amateur’ musical production to a professional level. We learnt about costumes, lighting, stage directions, auditions and many other skills that contribute to a successful First Night. Audience participation also featured as willing volunteers ‘acted’ out a dramatic scene.

Thank you , Briar, for a most entertaining presentation.
